Reality:
Partly Cloudy AM, Sunny noon, Partly cloudy PM, drizzle evening
06:30 wake up
06:59 pick up box lunch provided by hosts in lieu of breakfast
07:00 taxi to train station, £3.1

07:05 notice dark McDonalds
07:35 depart for Glasgow

11:13 arrive Glasgow
11:20 can't find connecting train listed anywhere, hey, none of
the trains go south. Doh! Glasgow has two stations, we're in
"North"
a.k.a. "Queen Street", we want "South" a.k.a. "Central"
11:22 hop in taxi, "patch me through to central"
11:36 arrive at Glasgow Central £3.1, puzzle cabbie with
£5 tip (yes, I know how much that is)
11:44 board 11:50 train to London Euston
12:40 order two £19 steaks from steward
13:00 I would eat them on a train, I would eat them in the rain
(and it's a good thing that I would)

14:30 realize that train is 10 minutes late and upcoming
connection
only has 4 minutes
14:31 plan B -- don't take 14:45 from Warrington Bank Quay,
continue
to Crewe and take the 15:27 to Holyhead (pronounced Hollyhead, in Wales)
14:49 arrive at Warrington Bank Quay
15:15 arrive at Crewe
15:27 board the train to Holyhead
16:39 get off at Llandudno Junction

17:45 board train for Blaenau Ffestiniog
18:14 get off at Betws-y-coed (pronounced "bettis E could" here,
"betsy coed" elsewhere)
18:20 walk to hotel

18:48 settle on "Riverview restaurant", non-smoking
opens at 1900
18:49 wander
19:00 first in line
I ordered Italian Chicken (wrapped in Parma
ham) and lemonade, Mom got 3 fillets: black angus, venison and pork,
plus
diet coke £24
20:00 wander back to hotel, stop at gift shop, find something for
those special women in my life
20:20 return to room, plan tomorrow's assault on Mt Snowdon
